OK, they insisted in doing their own diagnostic at 45 quid to tell me what I'd already told them and they agreed with the advice here that the engine compartment fuse box was the source of the fault and did cough to that being a problem they'd seen before.
I'm assuming that the fuse box doesn't have to be 'paired' with the ECU via the CAN bus and it is just a case of physically swapping it over in case anyone else is thinking of doing it wheeler? In practice, though; it's looking very like a power supply issue - maybe even P could be flagged by that. P is almost standard on these.

The sensors receive a 5 volt reference signal from the PCM. As pressure readings change, the sensor varies the voltage and the computer reads that to determine input. In the case of a broken wire, the sensor never sees the voltage and the computer assumes a major fault. So if you get this P code, first check to make sure you're getting a good 5 volt reference signal at the sensor.
Remove the air filter box assembly so you can access the transmission range switch. Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the vehicle. Move the shifter to the neutral position.
Align the alignment holes between the switch and the shift lever. Insert a 5mm drill bit into the adjustment hole to verify the proper alignment for the neutral position. Excessive air inflow can be caused by a vacuum leak, a dirty sensor or, an exhaust gas recirculation valve not closing properly.
If the problem is not enough fuel, the culprit may be dirty injectors or fuel filters, a weak fuel pump or a leaky fuel pressure regulator. Can anyone shed any more light on this and give me a clue to where the fuel supply relay is please???? The engine management light goes out on restart and it has always restarted immediately once stopped and the key turned off and on again - it won't restart while rolling though and this fault is potentially dangerous so I want to get it sorted asap - I will be notifying VOSA when I can source the cause.
Re: Help with diagnostic code P C5 est '08 2. I've dismantled the fuse box, cleaned out half a pound of dead flies from underneath it and disconnected and reconnected everything, no obvious signs of loose plugs, corroded pins or broken wires etc.
I can see what look like several relays 'inside' the panel of the fuse box itself, but they look to be cast in resin with no way of getting to them, so I guess it'll be a new fuse box assembly if it repeats - fingers crossed it won't, just a case of wait and see now though Thanks again for the pointers. I have 2 fault codes, P - Turbo pressure regulation short to earth or pressure to high and P - injection system supply relay stage 1 opening to rapidly or still jammed when engine turned off.
